Notes:Inscribed in ink under title: The Walls being six feet thick & Gallery may be supported to have run thro them, but all the doors being stop'd with stone masonry except those of the Towers, it is impossible to make it out.

Line underneath the title has been covered over with stamp-paper of ca. 1942. It reads "Barony of Gallen County of Carlow", with the word Gallen struck through. According to Peter Harbison, the reason for this obliteration with stamp-paper was presumably in order to hide this line when a photograph was being taken ca. 1942 for a reproduction of the plan subsequently published in the book on Austin Cooper edited by Liam Price.

Title inscribed in ink u.c.

Watermark shows Britannia seated, within an oval frame with crown above, bearing a sceptre in her hand.

Physical description: 1 drawing : pen & wash ; 20.4 x 28.4 cm.

Credits:Attributed to Austin Cooper (1759-1830), who probably copied it from an original by Gabriel Beranger (ca. 1730-1817). This is because the wording used in the drawing is similar to that used in a description of the same castle written by Gabriel Beranger in NLI Ms 4162, page 9.
