Summary: | According to Patricia Butler, August 1997, this caricature (on stylistic grounds, subject matter and technique) is probably the work of members of the Brocas family, the most likely being Willaim Brocas, RHA (ca. 1794-1868) Lieutenant General Beckwith (1753-1823), commander of the forces in Ireland from 1816 to 1820, full length in uniform, left profile, standing with glove in left hand. In the background on the left is a soldier standing to attention and on the right is a man standing with his back turned |
