Watermark u.l. on sheet Austin Cooper drew the castle while on a tour of parts of south Leinster in the summer of 1782. This is one of the rare surviving drawings showing Carlow Castle as it before half of it was blown up by a doctor trying to convert it into a lunatic asylum in 1814 Physical description: 1 drawing image 9.8 x 13.2 cm., on sheet 18.2 x 26.5 cm.
