I have a view of exactly that spot in 1896 or 1897 on my site here: humphrysfamilytree.com/Blennerhassett/lindsay.joseph.html The view above must be later than my shot. (A cottage has been demolished, and the cross erected.)

The cross is not on the OS 25" from 1898. The NIAH says it was erected in 1900. It gives the inscription as 'To the glory of God and in memory of Stephen Edmond Spring Rice who died on the seventh day of April 1900 aged 22 years'.
