Notes: | Accompanying text on page 41 of "Connemara Journal": 'I have heard Mannin Bay described as "nothing but a rock and a gull". It's all in the point of view, of course. Patrick Kavanagh, poet though he is, came to Connemara and found it nothing but a heap of stones. In England there are people who will tell you that Great Gable is nothng but that. It is possible to find a heap of stones beautiful - not to mention a rock and a gull' Inscribed in red pencil l.l. of page: (25) Title inscribed in pencil l.c. on page Illustrations published on page 41, in "Connemara Journal" by Ethel Mannin, printed in 1947 by Westhouse, London Physical description: 1 print wood engraving image 4.8 x 5.9 cm., on sheet 10 x 7.6 cm., on page 22 x 13.9 cm. more |
