Notes:	Title inscribed on accompanying sheet by the artist with the following inscription: This is the second version of this scene for "The Nightingale and the Rose". I used a polaroid photo of myself as reference for the figure of the student - but still felt it was not right. The final picture I used concentrated on the bird and the tree, making for a simpler composition. I did reject several almost finished pictures at this time - that would be unusual now. P.J.
