Summary: | C.W. Cole spent time in Ballinrobe, County Mayo. He was working as a special artist for the Graphic, reporting on the events relating to the Irish Land League in the west of Ireland in 1880. This image shows the Coldstreams on board a ship either arriving in Dublin. They are observed by a man, woman and child on the docks. According to The Graphic (December 18th, 1880) "The arrival of the Coldstream Guards show the Eleanor alongside North Wall, Dublin, previous to their disembarkation. It is the 1st Battalion numbering 675 officers and men..." |
