Summary: | C.W. Cole spent time in Ballinrobe, County Mayo. He was working as a special artist for The Graphic reporting on the events relating to the Irish Land League in the west of Ireland. At Ballinrobe he covered the so-called Boycott Relief Expedition (12th - 26th November 1880) in which the army escorted the 50 "Orange Labourers", employed to save Captain Boycott's crops, to and from their camp at Lough Mask. This drawing shows the police and the army travelling to Boycott's estate on the road from Claremorris, County Mayo to Hollymount, County Mayo |
