One of the interesting things about this shot is that you can just make out the fallen flagpole from which the "Irish Republic" flag flew - it's on the near top corner of the GPO. (I posted the same comment about a previous pic, but the pole is more obvious here.)

Definitely late May - ie, after the 17th. See Westropp's sequence of pics of demolition of the building in the foreground (Metropole Hotel) on the RIA's site:

@65361386@N05 Oh, pefect! Thanks - great to have that confirmation. And you're right, the flagpole is so much clearer in this one...

@65361386@N05 Would you please mind reposting that DHO Westropp link? It's a little ill...

No problem - It may be my old browser, but it's a very slow site, so here's the search page: cats.ria.ie/photoadvanced.html
Just type "Easter Rising" into the Subject box. Cheers.

@nlireland Of course, and the 'tache is distinctly reminiscent of Dr Vincent White.
[It's a picture of the Shah of Persia from the 1890s]

@johnspooner Final pic of Dr Vincent White coming up in the next few days, with him looking rather like a smiling Poirot as played by David Suchet...
