Inscribed in pencil on inside cover: 73 engravings & drawings. Engravings by Henry Brocas Sen. died 1840 aged 73. The engravings in this book were all executed by Henry Brocas Ser. with many others in the early part of his life in the line manner and afterwards in the stipple or mixed style ... he had many apprentices of merit as G Shea, J Byrne, Maguire and Martin all now engaged ... he was master of the D. Society School for nearly 40 years ... he died 1840 aged 73 - W. Brocas 120 Baggot St.
Dark blue leather bound sketchbook with meuble board, leather spine, brass clasps and marble end papers in grey, ca. 28 pages (first 2 pages numbered), some pages previously removed
Sketchbook "pulled" and drawings separated from the existing acidic carrier, remounted on mohawk super fine acid free card and rebound in original sketchbook over. Original acidic carrier enclosed in separate phase box. Both tasks carried out and completed by National Library of Ireland in July 1998
