William Galt was land steward to the Fortescue estate in Co. Louth between ca. 1817 and 1847. He was married to Agnes Burns, eldest sister of poet Robert Burns (see: County Louth Archaelogical and Historical Journal, XXIII, 3, (1995), p.341-343)
