Lady Georgina makes references in her diaries during the early 1870s to ‘The boys went to Gailey for the regatta’ or ‘The boys went to Gailey on their shooting trip with Lord Castlemaine.’ [‘The boys’ refer to her children Edward Henry Churchill Crofton, b. 1834, Hon. Charles St. George Crofton, b.1836 and Hon. Alfred Henry Crofton, b. 1837]. Lord Castlemaine lived at Moydrum Castle near Athlone, Co. Westmeath and owned Hare Island, Lough Ree, which was an ideal shooting estate with a shooting lodge and a sheltered harbour. She also refers to Lord Kingston and Lord Castlemaine coming for dinner and staying overnight.

Notes:Lady Georgina Crofton (née) Paget was born ca. 1809. She was the daughter of Field Marshal Henry William Paget, 1st Marquess of Anglesey and Lady Caroline Elizabeth Villiers. She married Edward Crofton, 2nd Baron Crofton of Mote, son of Hon. Sir Edward Crofton and Lady Charlotte Stewart on 19 October 1833. She died on 9 November 1875.
