Three of these drawings are signed and dated "W.F. Wakeman / 1842" and one of the smaller drawings has the inscription "Doorway in Grey Abbey, a sketch / from nature, by W.F. Wakeman / 1842". The Cistercian monastery at Grey Abbey was founded in 1193 and dissolved in 1541-3.
