Lettered with title "The Somerset, or the 10th taught to Daunce, an afterpiece, lately perform'd at the Theatre Royal Hawkin's [sic, Hawkins] Street, with unbounded applause!" with publication line 'Pub. by McCleary'. An officer from the cavalry regiment the Tenth Royal Hussars is depicted being kicked down a staircase by another gentleman who says as he does so, "I'll never stand neuter[?] and see a Lady - insulted, so take the liberty of shewing you the shortest way down stairs!". Two other gentleman stand nearby on the staircase, cheering the gentleman on, one of them remarking "that's a hero!". At the top right of the staircase a small group of gentlemen have gathered to observe the scene while beside them four officers of the Tenth Royal Hussars are depicted drawing their sabres in reaction to what is being meted out to their fellow officer. In the left background, adjacent to the sign on the wall denoting the entry to the boxes in the Theatre Royal, Hawkins St. are another group of men - one of them remarks "I suppose they'll have a meeting shortly", another man replies "oh not at all the 10th don't fight!". Behind them, the figures of women are indicated.
