Notes:Andrew Hennessy of Passage West, figures in the local annals as the builder of the first river steamer that ran on the Lee from Cork to Cobh. In the records of the 'Gentleman's Magazine' for November 1825, he was praised for the invention and construction of a life or safety boat from models submitted to the Lords of the Admiralty and Trinity Board in London. The Navy Board and Trinity Board congratulated him on his ingenuity and he returned to Cork and completed a life boat on the principles exhibited in his models. On 7th October 1825 Henessy along with five seamen sailed from Cork to England in the completed vessel. He arrived in Fishgaurd and then proceeded to Liverpool arriving there on the 15th October 1825.
