Notes: | With docket title, on which the date is given erroneously as 1699. Dominic Sheldon, member of an English Catholic, Royalist family, was an army officer, who was appointed captain in the Irish foot guards and in 1686 lieutenant-colonel of the earl of Tyrconnell's regiment of horse. He became a major-general in 1690, and fought at the Boyne (1690) and at Aughrim (1691), where he commanded the left wing of the Jacobite cavalry. During the absence in France of Lord Deputy Tyrconnell in 1690–91 he served on the council assisting the Duke of Berwick. Physical description: 1 item (4 pages). more |
