Cox family collection,

The letters and telegrams are mainly addressed to Dr. Michael Francis Cox and are concerned with Land League matters and the choosing of candidates for parliamentary elections. Some are from his brother, Joseph Richard Cox, during his various imprisonments. Other correspondents include Charles Stewart Parnell and Michael Davitt.

Notes:Dr. Michael Francis Cox worked in private practice in Sligo before taking up a position in St. Vincent's Hospital in 1881. He was a lifelong nationalist and supporter of the Irish Parliamentary Party. His brother, Joseph Richard Cox. was M.P. for East Clare. He joined the Land League at its formation in 1879 and was imprisoned several times for League activities.
