Gough Papers.

The collection comprises military, personal, political, and estate papers for the Gough family. The most significant part of the collection covers the career of Viscount Hugh Gough (1779-1869) in the British Army during the Peninsular Wars, the Opium Wars and the Anglo-Sikh Wars, and in particular his role as commander in chief in India from 1843 to 1849.
