Shaw writes that he had previously written an article to discredit Sinn Féin but "now that the poor devils have been trapped and smashed...I must do what I can to protect against a White Terror". He writes about a forged document which was aimed against them and was possible made by supporter of Carson and which the 'Daily News' have refused to publish.
