Clarke's draft provides an account of her early life in Limerick, her uncle John Daly’s arrest for Fenianism in England, the formation of the Amnesty Association, the death of her father while she was a child and her uncle’s release from prison and return to Limerick. She also provides a brief account of Douglas Hyde’s visit to New York, which took place while she and her husband Tom Clarke were living in Brooklyn, and her own disaproval of Hyde’s New York lecture in which he criticised Thomas Davis.
