Eamonn Ó hÓgáin, son of Seaghan Ó hÓgáin, was her doctor. With letter from Margaret Pearse to Dr. Eamonn Ó hÓgáin. Seaghan Ó hÓgáin was born on 24 January 1869 in Kilmichael, Co Kildare. In 1893, shortly after the founding of Conragh na Gaeilge, he was appointed join treasurer with Seaosamh Laoide and was manager of the Gaelic Journal. He studied Gaelic at University College Dublin under Father Éamonn Ó hÓgáin and graduated with a BA degree in 1898. From 1900 he held a senior position in the Department of Agriculture and married Adelaide Mary Boland. His son, Éamonn Ó hÓgáin, was the doctor of Una McCrudden, a member of the Belfast branch of Cumann na mBan. In 1938 he wrote a book titled ‘County Clare’. Ó hÓgáin died on 12 July, 1947. |
