Muriel Gahan Papers, 1930-1994.
Papers of Muriel Gahan, reflecting her work as a promoter of traditional crafts in Ireland and role in the establishment of The Country Shop, Country Workers Ltd., the Irish Homespun Society and Country Markets Ltd. The collection also sheds light of her active involvement in further organisations such as the Royal Dublin Society, the Irish Countrywomen's Association, Foras Éireann, Macra na Tuaithe, the Crafts Council of Ireland and the credit union movement. Also included are papers of Blanaid O'Reilly, concerning the work of the Conor Magee Trust which provided financial support for weavers in the Donegal Gaeltacht and with whom Gahan collaborated as an I.H.S. member.

Papers compiled by Muriel Gahan relating to Macra na Tuaithe. Included is a letter from Olivia Hughes, President of the I.C.A., to all guild secretaries and presidents regarding the creation of a youth organisation (10 Feb 1956), a typescript document relating to 'Conference Findings on Youth Work' (chaired by Gahan and dated 18 May 1956), printed and typescript documentation relating to the work of Macra na Tuaithe, including flyers, newsheets, meeting agenda, the Macra constitution, a 'Provincial Programme for Macra na Tuaithe' (1959-60) and 'Leaders Guide to Project for Girls' and a special report on a Macra 'Pilot Scheme' introduced in Co. Roscommon (1964-5). Also included is a circular letter from Michael B. Cleary, Macra Education Officer, to all club secretaries (Oct. 1967).
