Muriel Gahan Papers, 1930-1994.
Papers of Muriel Gahan, reflecting her work as a promoter of traditional crafts in Ireland and role in the establishment of The Country Shop, Country Workers Ltd., the Irish Homespun Society and Country Markets Ltd. The collection also sheds light of her active involvement in further organisations such as the Royal Dublin Society, the Irish Countrywomen's Association, Foras Éireann, Macra na Tuaithe, the Crafts Council of Ireland and the credit union movement. Also included are papers of Blanaid O'Reilly, concerning the work of the Conor Magee Trust which provided financial support for weavers in the Donegal Gaeltacht and with whom Gahan collaborated as an I.H.S. member.

Contains a letter to Cerise Parker from Angela Kehoe, secretary of Country Workers Ltd., concerning the company's financial difficulties (16 June 1975), a media release issued at the closure of The Country Shop , a notice for an Extraordinary General Meeting of Country Workers Ltd regarding plans to liquidate the company, minutes of the final meeting of the company (Oct. 1980), a statement drawn up by Muriel Gahan and issued to Country Workers Ltd shareholders, letters to Gahan from friends and business associates expressing sympathy at the closure of The Country Shop and a list of beneficiaries of the Country Workers Trust. With some attached envelopes.
Also included are notices regarding the disposal of remaining The Country Shop's stock and administration of the CWL Trust; contains a notice for the sale of stock in aid of the 'Craft Development Trust' (Feb. 1985), a subsquent notice for the sale of stock at the R.D.S. Spring Show of May 1986, and a letter to Gahan concerning her receipt of monies from the Trust (authorship unclear; letter dated Nov. 1988).
