Letter from Patrick McCartan to Joseph McGarrity expressing his disappointment regarding the handling of the Boundary affair and the failure to make the Oath optional,
1926 January 17.
He had hoped to induce Kevin O'Higgins "to declare England had violated the Treaty" in relation to partition. Rejoyces at the new Clan-na-Gael policy and despairs that "all want to do the best for Ireland and yet they do the worst". Mentions Éamon De Valera, Mick McGin, Dick Hayes, Gavan Duffy, Pat Lagan, William T. Cosgrave, Arthur Griffith, Michael Collins, Denis McCullough and others. Also mentions the attempt at creating a new political party and how the Labor movement and the Hibernians could be used in the North.
