Copy of letter from James Flanagan, 50 York Street to Jim [James] Larkin, outling an offer of work from Barnett Grain Merchants for Irish Transport and General Union workers and asking him to wire instructions,

circa 1913.

Flanagan writes "Barnett wants to employ our men and states that Heyns [G. Heyns Sons Ltd.] scabs would stow the stuff. I told them I could do nothing for them and I believed the only way out of it would be to hire some other steamer than a Head Liner [Shipping Company]" but also mentions that "some of the boys are coming and saying it means about 17/- a day to them".
