Notes:	James McNeill was the first Irish High Commissioner to London and second Governor-General of the Irish Free State. He was the brother of Eoin MacNeill and a member of the Constitution Committee that drafted the Constitution of the Irish Free State. Josephine McNeill (nee Ahearne) was born in Fermoy, County Cork, and engaged to Pierce McCan who died of influenza in Gloucester Jail in March 1919. She married James McNeill in 1923. She was a member of Cumann na mBan, honorary secretary of the council of the Friends of the National Collections and acted as chairman of the execuative committee of the Irish Countrywomen's Association. She was appointed minister to the Hague in 1950, becoming the Ireland's first female diplomat. In 1955 she was appointed minister to Sweden and held a joint appointment to Switzerland and Austria (1956-1960). Physical description: 9 folders & 1 phase box. more
