Description:Patrick McCartan states that Éamon De Valera, who is "against the Treaty" and "wants it smashed", "also wants a copy of the constitution to see if he can work constitutionally under it" and concludes "he wants to have his cake and eat it too". McCartan also states: "We'll not wade through each others blood for a few years so DeV. says but I don't know what the army thinks", and "he has encouraged a section of the army to follow him to the brink of another precipice". Mentions that the Volunteers formed an alternative government during their Convention, Harry Boland, Michael Collins, Arthur Griffith, Mary MacSwiney, Liam Mellowes, Gavan Duffy, Bishop Joseph MacCrory who hold De Valera "responsible for every Catholic murdered in Belfast", and discusses his career opportunities. Also relates an incident with Archdeacon Murphy.
