Edmund Downey Political Papers,
1904-1941.
Papers of the author and newspaper editor Edmund Downey of Waterford, largely relating his involvement in republican politics in Ireland and his association with Sinn Féin and subsequently Fianna Fáil. Included are letters to Downey from Éamon De Valera, Robert Brennan, Dorothy Macardle, Seán Lemass, Seán T. Ó Ceallaigh, Frank Ryan and Padraic Colum. Also included are papers relating to the local administration of the Sinn Féin Election Fund in Waterford, dating from the General Election campaign of 1918, documentation concerning Downey's work as editor of 'The Waterford News' and political leaflets and sketches relating to the national movement.

She also includes a draft of an article in which she describes a Fianna Fail party event in Ring, Co. Waterford, which she attended with the party's Waterford canditate Micheal O Riain. [This possibly relates to the Genearl Election campaign of 1927]. |
