Legible text reads "Dear Mr. Pearse, I want to send my son to St. Enda's but it is not convenient at the moment for me pay the fee in advance and I could not conveniently do so until 1st week in January. Professor [James] Kelly, Galway is a nephew of mine, and in case you want a reference please write him. Dr. M. F. Cox, Dublin, can also give you references if necessary [?] of this arrangements will meet your wishes so that we can arrange to send him on Monday next I much oblige. Yours sincerely James Joyce".
