Second day at the first line. Develops his philosophy of acceptance, of giving up human hope, of finding refuge in sacrifice. Writes : "Je ne suis pas digne ces jours ci d'être autre chose qu'un souvenir". Has tried to pick up flowers in the mud, wants his mother to keep them in memory of him. Postscript : "courage in spite of everything".
