Typescript letter with manuscript inclusions in which Gregory writes of the arrest of the Abbey Theatre actors in Philadelphia, and their plan to 'sue the Publican McGarrity for Malicious arrest'. The Mr. Quinn she refers to is the New York lawyer John Quinn, who bailed out all the cast.

Notes:The Abbey Theatre went on its first American tour in 1911-12. During the tour performances of Synge's 'The Playboy of the Western World' provoked disturbances in various cities and in Philadelphia the entire cast was arrested and charged with indecency at the instigation of the local Clan na Gael organiser Joseph McGarrity. The case was subsequently dismissed.
