| Notes: | Other correspondents include Joyce's brother, Stanislaus; the magazine editor, Harriet Weaver and Joyce's sister, Eileen Schaurek. A few of the Italian letters include English translations. During the period covered in this correspondence Joyce's daughter, Lucia, began to suffer from mental illness and the letters convey his anxiety about her. All of his letters to Lucia are in Italian, which appears to have been the main language the Joyce family spoke to each other. Also during this time Joyce's sister, Eileen, married a Czech banker, Frantisek Schaurek, who comitted suicide in 1926, while his wife was visiting Ireland.
