Letter from Liam Lynch, Chief of Staff, IRA, to the Adjutant, 1st Southern Division, regarding the political situation in Ireland, the drafting of the Irish Constitution, and the control of the army,

1922 October 11.

Writes: "This shows a vast improvement in the enemy attitude, and our Militiary successes, and the general development of the situation in our favour, will soon bring the enemy to realise the actual position, and thereby recognise the National honour ... If an Irish constitution is drafted which destroys the Treaty, that is, places Ireland outside the British Empire, it will settle the matter".
