Contains the estate and family papers of the Leslie family of Co. Monaghan, dated 1528-1992. Estate papers includes deeds, leases, rentals, legal papers, estate correspondence, documents from the Land Commission and from the Sir John Leslie Estates Company, maps and plans, financial papers, and miscellaneous documents relating to the Leslie estates of Glaslough, Pettigo and others. The Leslie family papers include correspondence, diaries and journals, writings, photographs, scrapbooks, sketchbooks, gamebooks, ephemera, legal and political papers, and miscellaneous material kept by the Leslie family.

Description:Contains letters and telegrams relating to the duel fought by Norman Leslie with Yousry (Yousury) Pasha in 1910. Leslie was the last serving British officer ever to fight a duel, which was prompted when a letter Leslie sent to Yousry's wife was intercepted by him. Includes a letter and telegram from Yousry concerning arrangements for the duel, letters to Leonie Leslie and letters from Gen. John Maxwell. Also includes a letter to Shane Leslie from Gen. Sir Montagu Stopford concerning the housing of the rapier Leslie used in the duel, dated 1957.
