Contains the estate and family papers of the Leslie family of Co. Monaghan, dated 1528-1992. Estate papers includes deeds, leases, rentals, legal papers, estate correspondence, documents from the Land Commission and from the Sir John Leslie Estates Company, maps and plans, financial papers, and miscellaneous documents relating to the Leslie estates of Glaslough, Pettigo and others. The Leslie family papers include correspondence, diaries and journals, writings, photographs, scrapbooks, sketchbooks, gamebooks, ephemera, legal and political papers, and miscellaneous material kept by the Leslie family.

Description:Contains a volume of typescript letters from Shane Leslie to his close friend May Hawkes (née Banister), dated ca.1926-1939. Leslie met Hawkes, who was also good friends with Clara Frewen and Clare Sheridan, in 1925 and the correspondence consitutes a substantial record of Leslie's daily life. Hawkes later died in German-occupied France.
