Papers of Senator James Green Douglas; Douglas' retained drafts and copies of his own letters which reflect his political activities as a senator in the Irish Free State, including his position on the Constitutional Committee and Postal Commission. Many letters relate to his involvement with the Irish White Cross and the distribution of funds from the American Committee for Relief in Ireland. Correspondents include Michael Collins, Hugh Kennedy, W.T. Cosgrave, Baron Glenavy, Ernest Blythe, George Russell, the Archbishop of Cashel, Eamon De Valera, Arnold Marsh, and many other political and religious figures and commentators, 1898-1939; Documents relating to the Irish White Cross, 1921-1924; Memos, drafts and reports belonging to Douglas, 1922-1936; Newspaper cuttings and magazines, 1925-1966; Drafts of Douglas’ memoirs with related correspondence and notes, [ca. 1933] & 1997, Papers relating to John Douglas & Sons Ltd., includes business accounts for the family’s drapery business on Wexford Street, 1909-1944.

Hanson of the OPW about decorating the Seanad chamber; letters to and from George Russell about the divorce bills controversy and the Geneva Protocol; a letter from Alfred Zimmern about visit to Dublin; a letter from R. Hutchinson about political prisoners; letters to the Archbishop of Cashel concerning notes circulated by the Catholic Truth Society relating to Douglas and the divorce bills controversy with a reply from the Archbishop; letters concerning a proposed visit to Dublin by the delegates of the Inter-Parliamentary Conference in London; a letter from the editor of Encyclopedia Brittanica asking him to write a summary about the Free State constitution for the entry on Ireland.
