Notebook contains diary entries for Christmas Day, 1973, 15 July 1988, in which he writes of his revising poems written in the winter of 1975, and 14 September (no year) in which he refers to meeting Charles Monteith of Faber and Faber. Also included are drafts essays on poets Philip Larkin, Ezra Pound, Gerard Manley Hopkins and W.B. Yeats, some reflections on poetry (including a possible draft introduction to the collection 'North'), drafts of poems dated 1975 and 1988-9 and lists of his own poems.
