Dear Mr Monro, Thanks for your letter. Mr Lane's promise and Mr Pinker's assurance mean nothing to me. Please get the former to sign the contract without further haggling and forward it direct to Paris. I will sign it and when you receive it back you can pass it on to my agent. If these two persons are given any more grace they will change their wavering minds once more. Sincerely yours, James Joyce.
