David Marcus Papers,

1913-2007.

Papers of the writer David Marcus, comprising material relating to his novels, poetry, autobiography and short stories, including some unpublished work and correspondence with other writers. Born in Cork in 1924, David Marcus died in Dublin in May 2009. He edited 'Irish Writing' and 'Poetry Ireland' for almost a decade prior to 1954; worked as editor of 'New Irish Writing' in 'The Irish Press' for 30 years and edited over 30 anthologies of Irish short stories, a number of novels and his 2001 autobiography, 'Oughtobiography - Leaves from the diary of a hyphenated Jew'.
