In Collection: Conolly-Napier papers, 1783-1840.
Description:Account of her visit, including to a trade fair, where she finds much to interest her. She regrets that the duty will make the bargains as expensive as in England ‘but the prints I think I can manage to smuggle.’ She describes in great detail the appearance of the women of North Holland. Now that the Castlereaghs [Robert Stewart, Lord Castlereagh and his wife Amelia] have left, she says she and Lady Louisa Conolly are staying with the Clancartys [Richard Le Poer Trench, 2nd Earl of Clancarty, (1767-1837) and his wife Henrietta Margaret (née Staples), who was the niece of Thomas Connolly, (1738-1803), Lady Louisa's husband]. She refers to a dispute involving Lucien Bonaparte, (1775-1840) [younger brother of Joseph and Napoleon Bonaparte] while they waited at the port of Harwich [Essex, England] to embark.
