Duggan Photographic Collection

Collection consists of daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, tintypes and other examples of early photographic techniques. It also includes prints, mostly cartes de visite, by various photographers both Irish and international (British, French, German, Russian, Italian, American, etc.). The majority of the Irish photographers are from Dublin: Lauder Bros., Lafayette, Chancellor, Lawrence, F. H. Mares, James Robinson, Millard & Robinson, Nelson & Marshall and many others.

Notes: | Cased photographs (daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, tintypes and four albumen prints) are catalogued under call number NPA DUG1-26. Also part of the collection one handheld stereoviewer in mahogany and engraved white metal, inscribed "Sun Sculpture U&U Patent", ca. 1880. In addition to the stereoviewer the collection also includes one rare half plate mahogany brass bound, tailgate bellows camera complete with four mahogany plate holders: the "Watson" logo is on top. The camera is in working condition and shows exceptionally fine workmanship. Both construction and design are identical to the famous Gandolfi Universal Cameras. Ca. 1900.
