| Notes: | Hand tinting. Union Case embossed on the outside with a floral pattern and on the inside is listed as S Pecks Patent 1854/1855 and H Halverson's Patent 1855. Thermoplastic Union Case. "Halverson" might be in reality "Halvorsen" wrongly spelled. Originally from Norway, Halvor Halvorsen appears to be the inventor of the formula for thermoplastic cases as early as 1850. In 1852-1853 he was listed as "daguerreotypist cases" in Hartford, Connecticut. Exhibited "Through the Brass Lidded Eye", Guinness Museum, Dublin, 1989.
