Inscribed in ink on inside of front cover upper left: Sawyer 1937 £36

Sketchbook with brown vellum cover with clasp (broken). Name "Gabriel Beringer" embossed in gold on red leather label on cover. Underneath label is the inscription "Gl. Beranger" etched into the velum.

This volume was bequeathed by Gabriel Beranger to a Mrs Walker, a niece of his second wife. It purchased by the National Library in 1937.

Description:Couple walking past the ruins of Baggotrath Castle [the castle stood on the site of Nos. 42 and 44 Uppper Baggot Street, Dublin; it was demolished in the early decades of the nineteenth century to make way for the developments of the Dublin suburbs to the east of the Grand Canal]. To the right of the drawing is a horse standing.
