This collection largely contains business and political correspondence of Robert Briscoe. Business papers pertain to Briscoe's importation business and Irish industries. Political papers concern elections and Briscoe's career as a Fianna Fáil T.D. and Dublin Lord Mayor, including invitations to social events and a mayoral tour of America. Also contained in the collection is constituency correspondence in relation to housing and employment as well as correspondence from various charitable, educational, health and religious organisations. The collection also houses papers relating to Jewish affairs, including Jewish immigration, Jews in Palestine, Zion schools, kosher meat, Jews in Poland, housing Jewish children in Ireland and social events concerning Jewish groups and societies, such as the Talmudico-Philosophical Society. Notable correspondents featured in the collection include Éamon de Valera, Seán T. O'Ceallaigh, Peadar O'Donnell, Dan Breen, Cearbhall Ó Dálaigh, Margaret Pearse and U.S. President Richard Nixon.
