The Keogh Photographic Collection, PC

Political and social images from the 1916 Rising, the 1917 elections and the Civil War. Includes a large number of portraits of personalities (often in uniform) of the time, such as Éamon de Valera, Michael Collins, Roger Casement, John Redmond, William T. Cosgrave, Constance Markievicz, P. H. Pearse, Archbishop Walsh of Dublin, various priests, George V, Laurence Ginnell and many more. Other images record Ely House, Dublin Labour Conference, hunger strikers, Liberty Hall, Fianna Éireann, Sinn Féin, Irish Citizen Army, Irish Women Workers' Union and the National Volunteers. Additional subjects include the funerals of O'Donovan Rossa and Arthur Griffith.

Brendan Keogh (b.1887) was the principal photographer at the commercial firm of Keogh Brothers, which was established in 1909 and operated from 75 Lower Dorset St., Dublin. By 1930 it had expanded to an additional address of 124 St. Stephen's Green and continued until 1958.
